Labrador Fishermen's Union Shrimp Company Limited is into many species of fish some of which are still in their infancy stage when it comes to potential development. The company is always looking for opportunities to expand in the area of added value production and looks favorably upon any request for value added products which makes the product more valuable and creates employment within the area that we represent.

Labrador Fishermen's Union Shrimp Company Limited is interested in any company  who might have markets for value added cod products. We have had some experience with cod tails, loins, centers and nuggets but we have not been able to access a firm market niche. Also the company would be willing to talk to potential customers who would have markets for cooked products, especially if it would add to potential opportunities for employment. We have excellent expertise in cod fillets and blocks and are able to offer the finest.

The company processes large volumes of turbot (i.e. Greenland Halibut). This product is presently sold in H&G and fillet form.  A delicious product sold mostly in Taiwan and Japan.  The fillets are mostly sold to the U.S.

Scallops are a major part of our portfolio. At present we are selling about 150,000 pounds of scallop meat per year. Most of our scallops from the plant in Lanse au Loup is sold fresh, however, all of our scallops from the northern plants are frozen and sold in either one pound or five pound boxes. We also process IOF scallops out of the Lanse au Loup plant.  IOF  scallops are presently being frozen on an exploratory scale and we freeze and sell as we receive orders, provided the prices offered are compatible with fresh prices.

At present the company sells large volumes of the crab products to markets in Japan.  Most of the product sold to Japan is in the form of sections, however, large volumes are also sold in the U.S where it can be sold in either section or meat form.  Major producers of crab products are very interested in ours since we have a good reputation as far as quality is concerned.
